When you open your nmap you’re VPS (if it is hosted in Atlanta on GNAX), you’ll see tons of open ports:

You’ll get similar results even if you shutdown your VPS (stop the container), so I'm guessing the host server must be doing something funny to make all these ports appear open.
Does anyone know why it does this or how to make nmap show me only the ports those are actually open?
