Where do you get your domains from?

Postby Andrew » Fri Dec 11, 2009 6:36 am

I get my domains at name.com

They offer FREE Private Whois and .coms are only $8.99 without even using a coupon.

Ive used other registrars like Godaddy before but have since transferred all my domains to name.com

I'm interested in what other people use and if they would recommend it.

I get all of my domains from GoDaddy now. I used to use all kinds of different registrars but GoDaddy has the most coupons and it's really easy to get a deal from them.

Yeah with Godaddy you always need to be looking for coupons but with name.com the normal price is cheap already ($8.99). Don't forget you are getting private whois with your domain too... I remember trying to add private whois with Godaddy and they wanted to charge about the same price as the domain. So basically i would be paying the price of 2 domains.

I would not recommend registering your domain through your web host. Ive seen lots of threads on forums with people saying that they are moving hosts and are having difficulties transferring the domain account.

I believe you should always keep your hosting and domains separate.

I agree with not registering your domain through your host. I have a bad experience doing that.

At the moment i also have most of my domains at name.com but i also recommend namecheap.com as they are also really good.

I would stay away from Godaddy. Just take a look at some of the horror stories you'll find with a simple Google search.
This site has heaps of them: http://nodaddy.com/

Namecheap and Mydomain.com are where I get my domains from. I tried Godaddy and hated their interface of hoops and junk just to go manage your domains.

I still use godaddy.com. Coupons are easy to get for godaddy, just google search: godaddy promo code. You can get a domain for about 7-8$ with that.

I want to start 20 different sites. My current domain registry only allows me to have 5 domains. Is there a place where I can have lots of sites with hosting?
