This problem I want to solve urgently, cpanel or something keeps updating my software for me, reverting back to some standard image, using software I care not to use. Of course, this is not the way I want it to work; I don't want eztemplates or auto updates or anything like that. I want to manually manipulate the package installation process and keep every process hands' off my package list.

So, my question is how do I stop whatever it is, presumably cpanel, from reverting to some "known good" instance without my permission? I don't see an option in the cpanel login itself.

Any clues?

I'm pretty sure I turned it off in the OS, but its back.

You should edit /etc/cpupdate.conf , and then change this line:

SYSUP=manual

This way, whenever you wish to update you should just type /scripts/upcp --force

By the way, it's extremely recommended that you keep your [url=http://www.copahost.com/dedicatedservers.html]dedicated server[url] with cpanel's automatic updates. This is for your safety, cpanel will always update unsafe modules whenever needed.

I only configure via WHM for stable updates.

Sometimes I get problems with exim with automatic updates, clients say they can´t send emails. Go to exim configuration, reset to default. It comes back 100%. Reconfigure exim as you did before, working fine now.

What I am trying to do is put a script on my site to allow staff members to log into the public_html cpanel area. I am making a graphics site and right now I am the only one that can update because I can't just give my password out to each staff member, because then they would have complete access to my entire site. But I have heard that their is a script that will allow users to log into just public_html. I have looked for a script but so far no luck. Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance.

It is very good question.Where do you want them to login? Through FTP or thru Cpanel's File Manager? If through FTP you can just set up another FTP account just for them on the FTP manager. If you want them to be able to login on cpanel and access your file manager and public_html folder I don't see it possible. You can have CMS or something like that implemented on your site though where you can have multiple users to manage your site without accessing your cpanel account. If it's just a simple site, I recommend wordpress, it is fully customizable and you can add as many users as you want and grant them different rights over your site. Wordpress is in your cpanel's fantastico.
